American Curves Presents Zecora

Description

Thought it would never happen.  It seemed to be the dream that would last forever or the idea that you thought would happen.  And yet, it was the biggest thing that shook this deviant's life.

STORY TIME (and a damn important one, so please read):

Talk about the greatest magazine I was ever lucky to pick up from a gas station/supermarket, American Curves.  If you can imagine the Maxim/Playboy style magazines where they show a few pretty girls, talked more about cars you'll never afford and etc.  But spin all that around and you had American Curves.  Instead this magazine was full to the brim of eye candy and non-stop smoking hot girls.  And yet, there was no adult rated material or full out nudity.  Instead it was just stunning poses, tiny swimsuits and so many varieties in your babes you'd be lucky to keep your jaw from falling off.

To the younger years of drawing, this was THE best thing I could have ever asked for.  It showed anatomy, angles and even just how beautiful the female form was.  So for many years I kept getting this magazine every month of every year and studying it, referring to it and just adoring everything that made it so good.

However it was in late 2012 when Robert Kennedy, the owner of American Curves, passed away and the magazine began its decline.  The 8-10 issues per year went down to a mere 4 and everything from its quality girls to even how many pages it held decreased by half.  A friend I made at the gas station that sold the magazine always re-assured me that there was another issue coming.  But it never did.  In middle/late 2013, the American Curves publisher closed its doors and its magazine is now discontinued.  I only learned of all of this around the middle of January 2014 when the same gas station friend from before finally confessed what happened.   And somehow even he was deeper saddened by the news. o0o

So I couldn't sit idly by and not doing anything to credit the one magazine that shaped the lines you see here today.  This is meant as a special sendoff pic to American Curves and so I even ended up using one of the poses from the final issues.

I chose to favor a humanized version of the female zebra Zecora from MLP, a great character.  She and the magazine itself were a great inspiration and so I did everything possible to try and make this picture work.

On a final note, I’d like to credit the meaning of what helps create inspiration and what makes an artist grow.  I thank this magazine in so many ways what it taught me and what it still means to me even today.  Thank you Robert Kennedy, thank you American Curves and to every staff/model who made everything in that one little magazine the greatest thing ever. *applauses and whistles*

PS - I'd like to ask if only just this once to please share your thoughts and leave a comment instead of just hitting the fav button and being on your way.  And thanks in anycase if you've read this far. ^o^

Dude, your story was beautiful, and this is an equally beautiful tribute. I think Mr. Kennedy would be honored to see how much someone cared about his work.
